The accused as been identified as Arshad, and allegedly murdered his own family members,
"The accused, identified as Arshad (24), allegedly killed five members of his own family. Following the gruesome act, the local police promptly apprehended the accused from the crime scene," said Deputy Commissioner Raveena Tyagi.
The deceased have been identified as nine-year-old Alia, 19-year-old Alisha, 16-year-old Aksa and 18-year-old Rahmeen - all sisters of the accused. The fifth victim is Asma - the mother of the accused.
As per the DCP, Arshad is a native of Agra and reportedly took this step due to domestic disputes.
"Inquiry is also being conducted with nearby hotel staff, and any findings will be shared with the media as soon as they come to light," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime and Headquarters) Babloo Kumar.
"Regarding the bodies recovered, some show signs of injuries -- on the wrist of one, on the neck of another. Based on these marks, statements from witnesses and the post-mortem report, we are conducting a detailed investigation into the matter," he added.
The police have also named Arshad's father, Badar, as a suspect in the murder case and a search operation has been launched to find him.
Based on the preliminary probe, the family was murdered after they were drugged through food and alcohol.

The video, which is yet to be verified, shows the accused admitted he was behind the killings because he did not want his "sisters to be sold".

As reported by News18 and NDTV, Arshad said in the purported video that he killed his mother and sisters. The camera then pans to the bodies and he alleges that his father helped him.
"Our family has taken this step due to harassment by people in the neighbourhood. I have killed my mother and sisters. When police get this video, they must know that the locals are responsible. They harassed us to capture our house. We raised our voice, but no one heard. It has been 15 days that we have been sleeping on the footpath, wandering in the cold. We don't want the children to wander in the cold. They have captured our house. The documents are with us," said Arshad in the video.

"I request with folded hands747 live, we did not get justice in life, at least give us justice in death. They should get the strictest punishment. They are connected with leaders and police. They captured half of our plot and wanted to capture the other half," he said.
